Lokuthula Lodges is a unit within the Hospitality Division of the Africa Albida Tourism (AAT) group, which made its debut at Africa’s premier tourism showcase, Indaba, 2008. The group’s flagship is the international award-winning Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.
The Africa Albida Tourism takes its name from the well-known acacia albida (apple-ring) tree. This sturdy-rooted species is commonly found in the Zambezi Valley and other parts of Africa where it is revered as a human and wildlife food source and remedy for numerous ailments. Where crops are grown under it, it provides fertility.
The group’s logo represents stability, nurturing and prosperity and, above all, AAT’s ethic of fair, principled and responsible play in its physical, social and business spheres of influence.
It operates three divisions: Hospitality, Restaurants and Parks.
AAT Hospitality
The Hospitality division, under which properties owned and/or managed by the group fall, includes the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, the RCI Gold Crown Resort Lokuthula Lodges and the Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge which opened in April 2008.
Renowned Hwange camp The Hide joined the division, in a strategic marketing alliance in April 2008.
On the Upper Zambezi, 80 kilometres west of Victoria Falls, the group runs the recently upgraded Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge, in partnership with adventure operator Wild Horizons.
Completing the division are Kariba’s Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, (the ultra-luxurious Chundu Island on the Zambezi River and Wild Horizons Sanctuary Lodge, both currently under construction in Victoria Falls.
AAT Restaurants
Founded on the runaway success formula of the fabulous Boma – Place of Eating at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge resort, this division also includes the deluxe MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant. The Boma – Place of Eating received the ‘Award of Excellence’ in 2006, 2007, and 2008 while the MaKuwa-Kuwa received the ‘Best deluxe restaurant’ award in the same years.
AAT Restaurants’ expansion plans are to develop other outlets unique in character but using the same magic Boma blueprint, for Livingstone, Zambia and a giant 400-seater venue in Cape Town.
AAT Parks
A world first, AAT Parks’ Santonga aims to present the history of Victoria Falls since the beginning of time to the present day, in a state of the art, highly interactive, educationally enriching and entertaining six hour tour.
AAT’s philosophy is underpinned by the principle that tourism creates opportunities - to sustainably utilise the natural resources, create employment and enhance living standards. Through sharing our passion for Africa’s cultural and wildlife treasures and its immense physical beauty.
